Advanced Shell Technology (AST) was founded by luthier Kevin Ryan of Ryan Guitars to make the traditional craft of abalone shell inlay accessible to modern artisans across a variety of industries.

AST products are in wide use by artisans and factories around the world, including Taylor Guitars, Kamaka Ukulele, Deering Banjo, Paul Reed Smith Guitars, the Fender Custom Shop, Craig Thibodeau Fine Furniture, and more.
